Approach The Municipality of Bologna, a metropolitan city with over 390,000 inhabitants, handles a high volume of requests related to taxes and revenue collection. The challenge was to reduce queues at service counters and the workload on call centers, while encouraging the use of online services and ensuring fast and accurate responses for citizens.Municipia adopted an integrated consulting and technological approach, based on Design Thinking methodologies and co-design with the client, to analyze service processes and information flows and to develop an advanced, scalable, and secure conversational solution. Solution The project involved the implementation of an intelligent chatbot on the Municipality’s website, capable of handling requests related to taxes, deadlines, […]
Approach The client is the Local Police Department of Rieti, a complex municipal sector responsible for managing one of the most intricate processes with significant impact on the Municipality’s budget: the administrative sanctions procedure. The Department places great emphasis on its relationship with users, focusing on transparency and accessibility. To achieve the goals set by the client, several processes were redefined, but most importantly, all previous software platforms were replaced and a comprehensive portal was introduced to ensure transparency and communication with citizens. Solution The project was carried out in a temporary business grouping with Municipia as the lead company. It is based on providing the Local Police Department with […]

We adopted an agile and experimental approach based on co-design and field testing. Municipia developed an innovative app on the MUV Cloud platform, integrated with existing mobility services, to monitor and incentivize the use of sustainable transport, actively involving citizens through a participatory testing phase. Solution The BrESCI project involved the creation of […]
Approach The Municipality of Bologna is one of the few Metropolitan Cities in Italy that has consistently promoted digitalization for local authorities within its metropolitan area—and now, through this project, for 100 other entities across the region as well. It is also the first major municipality to launch its fully redesigned platform, compliant with NRRP measure 1.4.1 – Informed Citizen and Active Citizen. We supported the Municipality using an Agile Scrum methodology, reusing an existing platform and extending it to meet the requirements and guidelines of the PNRR, in full synergy and collaboration with the client. Solution The initiative began as an extension of the project launched with the Municipality […]
Approach In an evolving regulatory and technological context, the goal was to strengthen staff skills, adopt operational tools, and promote digital inclusion, in response to the challenges posed by the NRRP and European directives. We adopted an integrated Public Program Management approach, supporting the client in operational coordination and in defining concrete tools, such as the Accessibility Guidelines. The process included specialized training, technical support, and guidance through cultural change to ensure an effective transformation. Solution The project has strengthened the skills of public sector personnel and promoted digital inclusion, also through the purchase of assistive technologies to improve service access for staff with disabilities. Municipia, a company of the […]
Approccio The project stems from the need to bridge the gap in the governance of data related to local welfare. Available data on citizens’ needs, provided services, and the locations and methods of integration were fragmented, incomplete, or inconsistent, thus creating a decision-making deficit. Social infrastructure plays a fundamental role in promoting community well-being and cohesion and should be considered a key element in the design of urban transformation initiatives. Data must undoubtedly be included among social infrastructure: without knowledge, it is impossible to understand, plan, or measure the impact of interventions. We analyzed the available datasets and identified those needed to complete the analyses required to define standard socio-economic […]

The Local Police Command of Turin is a municipal department responsible for managing one of the most complex processes with significant financial implications for the institution: the administrative sanction procedure. The initiative is structured into thematic areas that address 10 challenges, including: understanding the micro and macro demographic factors of aging, studying the biology of aging, clinical and functional factors related to multimorbidity, analyzing life-course trajectories of active and healthy aging, care and assistance, and developing technological tools to meet emerging needs.
